Every clip and folder in AceText can have an associated URL. This URL can be a web address or the path to a file on your computer. This allows a clip or folder to reference an external resource without making that resource part of the clip’s contents.
AceText can open this URL in your default browser if it points to a website. If it is a path to a file then AceText can open the file in the application that is associated with that file’s type on your computer. There are several ways to do this. The URL field in the AceText Editor highlights valid URLs. Double-clicking a highlighted URL opens it. You can also right-click the URL field and select Browse to URL. The same Browse to URL command is also available in the Clip menu. Its keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+E.
AceText can also highlight URLs within the body text of a clip. For a clips that use a syntax coloring scheme, it depends on the syntax coloring scheme whether the clip is highlighted. For clips that don’t use a syntax coloring scheme, including clips with emphasis, you can choose in the Appearance Preferences whether URLs should be highlighted. When URLs are highlighted in a clip’s text, you can open them by double-clicking them.
